Adafix ("we," "us," "Adafix") is a Shopify app that scans a store's live pages for accessibility (WCAG) issues and helps merchants fix them — AI-drafted alt text for images and contrast fixes for hard-to-read text and buttons. This policy explains what data Adafix accesses, how it's used, and how it's handled.
Adafix scans your live, public storefront pages the same way a visitor's browser would — this doesn't require any special access to your store's data. When you install Adafix, Shopify separately grants the app access to:
Contrast fixes you approve are applied as a small stylesheet served through a theme app extension and recorded as a private metafield on your own store — Adafix never edits your theme's Liquid, CSS, or JSON files directly.
Adafix does not request access to customer data, orders, or payment information at any point, and does not use protected customer data scopes.
Adafix's own database stores only the technical session record created when you install the app: your store's domain and the OAuth access token Shopify issues to the app, plus — for the staff account that completed the install — the name, email, and locale Shopify shares as part of that OAuth session. This record is deleted automatically within 48 hours of uninstalling the app.
Scan results are computed live each time you run a scan and shown directly in your Adafix dashboard — Adafix does not keep a separate historical database of your store's violations. Contrast fixes you approve are recorded as a private metafield on your own Shopify store, not in a database Adafix operates; that data stays within your store's own systems.
When you ask Adafix to draft alt text for a product image, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API (a third-party AI vision model) to generate a suggested description. You review every suggestion before it's applied — nothing is written to your store automatically. Image data sent to Anthropic for this purpose is subject to Anthropic's own API data handling terms and is not stored by Adafix after the suggestion is returned.
All billing is handled directly through Shopify's Billing API. Adafix never receives or stores your payment card details — that's held entirely by Shopify.
Adafix runs on Fly.io infrastructure.
We'll update this page if what Adafix accesses or how it handles data changes, and update the effective date above.
